I signed up for my first Disney Marathon in 2022! I have referred to myself as a runner for over twenty years, but believe it or not, I have never signed up for a full marathon. I’ve decided to take on that frightening but exciting challenge in 2022. My first marathon will be the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Marathon Weekend on January 8, 2022.

A full marathon is 26.2 miles, a distance I have never run simultaneously. I have completed nine half marathons, 13.1 miles each, including The Air Force Half, several Gasparilla Halfs, St. Augustine Half, and other Disney Half Marathons. But I have always been a little intimidated to run the full marathon.
The fear of not finishing the race has always stopped me from attempting it. I researched, started a training plan, and sought advice from runners who have been there and done that… Now I’m as ready as I can be!
Like many others, I fear failure, but I have decided not to let that stop me this year. Fear has two meanings – Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. I have chosen to rise, and I hope anyone reading this becomes motivated and faces whatever they are currently struggling to meet.
