Fourth of July at Disney
While Disney may be known for fairy tales and fantasy, the Fourth of July brings a patriotic twist to the parks. Both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at Walt Disney World often feature exclusive nighttime spectaculars for Independence Day. At Magic Kingdom, the “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks light up the sky in a 360-degree display choreographed to patriotic music.
Over at EPCOT, you’ll find special performances by the Voices of Liberty and a festive twist on the EPCOT fireworks show with an American finale.
At Disneyland, Fourth of July typically brings a similar festive fireworks display above Sleeping Beauty Castle, along with patriotic merchandise, themed snacks, and character appearances in red, white, and blue outfits.
The fireworks at Disney are always dazzling, but there is something truly spectacular about them on the 4th of July. Make sure you book early and arrive at the parks early, as this is one day of the year when the parks may reach capacity. Even if you have park admission, they will deny entry once it does. Go early, grab a good spot, and enjoy a stunning fireworks celebration.

Halloween Time at Disney
Halloween is one of the most beloved seasons at both resorts, and Disney knows how to blend spooky with spectacular. It’s definitely one of our favorite times of the year to visit!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Walt Disney World)
Held on select nights at Magic Kingdom, this extra-ticketed event is packed with Halloween fun that’s perfect for all ages. What you can expect:
- Trick-or-treating throughout the park
- The “Boo-To-You” Halloween Parade featuring rare villains, gravediggers, and the Headless Horseman
- The “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” on the castle stage starring the Sanderson Sisters
- Exclusive character meet-and-greets in Halloween costumes
- The “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington
- Themed snacks and specialty merchandise are only available during the party
Guests are encouraged to dress up, and it’s one of the few times adults can wear full costumes in the parks. (No full face masks)

The bash sells out quickly each year, and for good reason—it’s an unforgettable Halloween experience.

It’s a newer event but already a hit for those looking for a classy, cocktail-forward holiday night.

From late November through December, EPCOT hosts the International Festival of the Holidays, which combines culture, cuisine, and celebration from around the world. Highlights include:

This festival is included with regular park admission and is a peaceful, heartwarming way to celebrate the holidays.

Don’t Miss These Holiday Details in the Parks
The parks themselves are decked out in jaw-dropping seasonal decorations. Here are a few not-to-miss details:
- Main Street, U.S.A. in both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland is lined with garlands, wreaths, and lamppost bows, all leading up to the park’s signature giant Christmas tree—a perfect photo spot by day or night.
- Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland features a full Nightmare Before Christmas overlay from Halloween through early January.
- Jungle Cruise transforms into the Jingle Cruise in Magic Kingdom, complete with humorous seasonal puns and holiday decorations strung throughout the queue and ride.
- At EPCOT, each pavilion adds festive touches reflective of their native traditions, from twinkling lights in Germany to festive lanterns in Japan.
New Year’s Eve at the Parks: Ringing in the Magic
There’s nothing quite like counting down to the New Year with Disney fireworks overhead. At both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, New Year’s Eve brings out the big entertainment:
- Magic Kingdom and EPCOT typically feature extended park hours and midnight fireworks celebrations, complete with DJ dance parties, champagne, and festive overlays.
- EPCOT’s “Cheers to the New Year” party includes entertainment in each World Showcase pavilion, with fireworks that celebrate each culture’s traditions.
- Disneyland and California Adventure also offer fireworks at midnight, special dining options, and New Year’s-themed food and drinks.
If you don’t mind the crowds, celebrating New Year’s Eve at Disney is the ultimate way to ring in the year with style, sparkle, and a little extra pixie dust.

Holiday Magic at the Disney Resorts
One of the most enchanting and often overlooked parts of celebrating the holidays at Disney is exploring the resorts and hotels, where each lobby and courtyard transforms into a festive wonderland with unique theming, massive Christmas trees, and jaw-dropping gingerbread displays.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
At Walt Disney World, nearly every hotel gets into the spirit, but a few stand out for their iconic holiday decor in years past:
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is home to a life-size Victorian-style gingerbread house, complete with edible shingles, windows, and even a sweet shop inside selling gingerbread treats and hot cocoa. The towering tree in the lobby is dripping in elegant gold and burgundy ornaments.
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge evokes the cozy, rustic charm of a national park lodge with its giant Christmas tree stretching up into the soaring lobby, surrounded by pine garlands, lanterns, and rocking chairs by the fire—truly the coziest holiday spot on property.
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort typically features a Mary Blair-inspired gingerbread display, often themed after classic Disney characters with a whimsical modern flair.
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort rolls out a working gingerbread carousel, complete with edible horses, candy details, and rotating motion.
Each Deluxe resort usually has holiday-themed merchandise and snacks, and many offer free holiday tours for guests to explore the decorations.
Even the moderate and value resorts like Port Orleans – Riverside and Pop Century add festive touches with garlands, themed ornaments, and music, making every stay feel special during the holidays. Just look at the amazing details at Art of Animation (just a value resort!).
Disneyland Resort Hotels
On the West Coast, Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel also bring the cheer.
- The Grand Californian is especially well known for its towering Christmas tree in the grand Craftsman-style lobby and a giant gingerbread house, often themed to Disney characters. The hearth is lit, and live music (like holiday piano tunes) creates a warm, nostalgic ambiance.
- At the Disneyland Hotel, you’ll find mid-century modern decorations and character-themed trees, along with festive photo ops and themed desserts in the restaurants.
Guests staying off property can still walk through these lobbies to enjoy the décor, and many holiday snacks and displays are open to day visitors as well.
In addition to the hotels and parks themselves, even Downtown Disney and Disney Springs are decked out in jaw-dropping seasonal decorations.
Celebrating holidays at Disney makes the most magical times of year even more unforgettable. With themed events, over-the-top décor, exclusive entertainment, and seasonal treats, there’s something special waiting in every corner of the parks—whether you’re chasing candy at Halloween or sipping cocoa in a flurry of Disney “snow.” We highly recommend planning a holiday stay at Disney!
Now is the perfect time to plan your magical holiday escape and create memories to last a lifetime! I can help you plan it, reach out, and let’s get holiday dreamin’!

Candlelight Processional is a must if you celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s well worth the price of a one-day pass to EPCOT. A group from my church used to go every year just to tour the resorts, see the decorations, and have lunch at one of their restaurants. It was free (except for the cost of the meal) which is rare at Disney. Since COVID, that tradition faded away, but I hope to do a solo tour for myself this year.
It really is wonderful and I do hope you get to attend this year!
