Our South Africa Adventure in Cape Town continues with our much-anticipated arrival to the continent of Africa. After an 11-hour 45-minute overnight flight from Germany, we happily arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, for the first part of our 14-day itinerary.

Our group used Booking.com to book our Hotel for our stay in Cape Town. We enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront – Cape Town and would stay there again. Unrelated to the hotel, we did experience a hiccup with the rental car reservation, but they made it right. We managed to play a perfect game of Tetris and have a hilarious memory!

We arrived at our hotel a couple of hours before their check-in time, and our rooms needed more time to be ready. They stored all of our luggage so we could explore around the grounds and grab some lunch that wasn’t from an airport.
The on-site restaurant called Tobago’s was fantastic, and we ate there every day, if not twice a day. It is so good! We enjoyed lunch and drinks on the outdoor patio while we waited for our rooms and just took in all the scenery. Watching the huge crashing waves of the Atlantic on the opposite side of the ocean from where I had seen it was incredible. I couldn’t believe I was here – it was magical!

We finally checked into our rooms, and everyone got settled, showered, had a power nap, and had some caffeine. We loved our room; it was clean, stylish, comfortable, and spacious, and we got super lucky with a lovely side view of the ocean.

Shortly before sunset, we set out to see a bit of Cape Town for our first night. We drove to a lovely spot to observe the stunning views of Table Mountain – the icon of Cape Town. Unfortunately, while we were there, it was closed to the public for maintenance, and there was no way to get to the top without the cable car. Instead, we watched the sunset from Signal Hill. It was beautiful… and chilly, and I looked closely for caracals! No luck, however!

To end the night, we walked around V&A Waterfront and shopped for souvenirs. I would love to go back to this area and explore, shop, and eat even more – it had so many shops, markets, and restaurants; it was far too much to see in one night. We returned to the hotel for a good night’s sleep in a real bed again. Woo hoo! We needed our rest because Day 3 would be busy and full of Wine. Stay tuned…
