Before I Disney you all to death – I’m catching up on so many things that I never took the time to write about and share over the last few years… I thought I would dig back into the archives of my iPhone and see what other treasures I could find and share. I’ll do my best to mix it up for you weirdos that aren’t Disney obsessed like us!
It led me all the way back to September of 2021 when Mark and I spent the day over on the Space Coast exploring the Kennedy Space Center – NASA for the very first time.
We drove over in the morning from St Pete,FL which was less than 2.5 hour drive and our first stop in the area was to check out Port Canaveral and have lunch at Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill.

This Port Canaveral Restaurant is HUGE with an expansive upper level patio overlooking the Canaveral Barge Canal where you could see the unbelievably massive cruise ships in the distance. Mark and I have never been on a cruise before, so it was incredibly eye opening to see the ships in real life – I always figured if I went on a cruise it would be a Disney Cruise and sure enough, off in the distance, there was the Disney Fantasy! Ahhhh maybe someday soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed some cocktails, fish spread, and nachos while watching the ships come and go and the storm clouds rolling in, we could have sat there all day but we had much more out of this world experiences waiting on us… This is the first time since moving to Florida in 2015 that we had taken the time to explore the Space Coast and we can’t wait to go back – one day was not enough.
I’m going to be completely honest – As two people who were born in the early 80’s that grew up with everything “space” and “futuristic” we completely lost our minds visiting Kennedy Space Center. We wore our Star Wars shirts and instantly felt like little kids running around trying to see and take it all in. There is something in the air at KSC that really gets to you in a magical way – no pun intended – and we only scratched the surface on everything there is to see and do there.

We did take the bus for the KSC Explore Tour that drove us past the Vehicle Assembly Building – it truly is larger than life and felt straight out of a movie scene. We made sure to lose our minds a bit in the gift shops too! It was such a neat place to wander around, take photos, and just daydream or imagine what the future holds.

We saw as many of the exhibits that we possibly could before the sky opened up in true Florida fashion and gave us a wicked thunderstorm that left us soaked for the drive home. We definitely want to go back for another visit and highly recommend taking a day or two to go explore Infinity and beyond! Yeah yeah, I know, I snuck Disney into this one too!
Great recap and pictures.
I see the space center has changed since from our last visit, a few years ago. Time to go. Our first visit was in the 70s and the space shuttle was only a dream. We’re about 120 south of the center.
This went in the wrong place. 😟
That’s one place still on my bucket list☺️❤️ looks fun.
