Have you been to the James Western Museum? Suppose you have ever visited our lovely Downtown St. Petersburg. In that case, there is a chance you have seen this stunning building on Central Avenue and wondered what incredible things might be inside – and great things are waiting for you inside The James Museum!

We attended for the first time to see the Warhol’s West exhibit from October 2, 2021 – January 9, 2022 (Hey! I told you I was playing catch up, right?) and loved it! The Warhol’s West Exhibit explored Andy’s fascination with the American West and had beautiful works of art featuring many famous people in history and pop culture. We also loved their technology feature that allowed you to take photos and create Warhol-inspired memories!

“The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art provides experiences that inspire human connection and transformation through art depicting the peoples, landscapes, and history of the American West, and wildlife of the world. More than 400 premier works of art including sculpture, paintings and jewelry are on display in the museum’s 26,000 square feet of gallery space. The museum engages the community through programs and educational opportunities, for all ages, that bring our history to life and amplify voices that are not often at the forefront of mainstream western art. When The James Museum opened in April 2018 it became one of the newest additions to St. Petersburg’s thriving arts community”. – from their website

After we explored the Warhol exhibit, we wanted to check out the rest of this remarkable museum and could have stayed there all day. The James Museum is open daily and only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. It offers $10 on Tuesdays, so there is plenty of opportunity to return again and again. There is so much to see! They always bring new and exciting exhibits and have a thriving calendar of events.

The James Museum offers a robust permanent collection and a rotation of new art all the time. We suggest adding this to your next St. Pete, Florida trip or making it an absolute must on a rainy day!
