A Spooktacular Night at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
If you’ve ever dreamed of trick-or-treating through Magic Kingdom with your favorite Disney characters in costume, then Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the after-hours event for you.
We went for the first time last year and trust me—it’s worth every pumpkin-spiced penny. Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning for another hauntingly magical evening, here’s everything you need to know (and what I learned) to make the most of your night.

Why MNSSHP Is So Worth It
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) transforms Magic Kingdom into a spellbinding fall festival full of exclusive entertainment, short ride lines, rare characters, and endless treats. Unlike regular park hours, this separately ticketed event gives you access to special shows like the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks—all only available during party nights from August 15 through October 31, 2025.
And the best part? Everyone’s invited to wear costumes—even adults!
Early Entry and Wristbands
Your party ticket gets you into the park as early as 4:00 PM (even though the party officially begins at 7:00 PM). Take advantage of this bonus time by arriving early to grab your event wristband (handed out at designated checkpoints like Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and near the front of the park) and hit a few popular rides before the Halloween fun kicks off.
This early entry is key! We used it to ride Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion (in full spooky glory) before the lines built up, grab a few special treats, and map out my must-do character meet-and-greets.

Costume Guidelines: What You Can (and Can’t) Wear
Disney has specific guidelines for costumes, especially for adults:
- Costumes must be family-friendly—no gore, weapons, or offensive content.
- Adults can wear full costumes but may not wear masks that fully cover the face.
- Floor-length costumes, capes, or bulky layers are discouraged for safety reasons.
- Children under 13 may wear masks that don’t obstruct their vision.
I went with a comfy dress and themed Minnie ears, which turned out to be perfect for Florida’s unpredictable weather. Speaking of…
Florida Fall Weather: Be Prepared
Don’t be fooled by the calendar—August – October in Orlando can still be hot and humid and WET. Pack light layers, bring a poncho, and stay hydrated throughout the night. Sudden rain showers are common, and nothing ruins a costume like soggy shoes.
Quick tip: Disney offers free water at any quick-service counter—just ask!
Trick-or-Treating: Candy Trails Galore
There are more than a dozen candy stations throughout the park, marked clearly on your party map. You’ll get a free trick-or-treat bag, but I recommend bringing a sturdier one—especially if you want to stock up! Allergy-friendly options are available too—just ask for a teal treat bag and collect tokens to redeem later.
And yes, adults are definitely allowed to trick-or-treat. We had way so much fun collecting candy alongside costumed families and fellow Disney fans.

Must-See Shows and Parades
Here’s the entertainment lineup you don’t want to miss:
- Boo-to-You Halloween Parade – With appearances from the Headless Horseman, hitchhiking ghosts, and Disney villains. Stake out a spot at least 45–60 minutes early for a prime view. We loved watching on Main Street and in Frontierland.
- Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular – The Sanderson Sisters cast a mischievous spell at Cinderella Castle. Several showtimes run throughout the evening.
- Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular – A fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington, complete with projections and music. It’s pure Halloween magic.
I highly recommend catching the second showing of the parade (usually less crowded), then grabbing a late-night snack before the fireworks.

Rare Character Meet and Greets
One of the biggest draws of MNSSHP is the chance to meet rare characters—some of whom only appear during this party. We met Jack Skellington and Sally, saw Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween best, and tons of villains! Lines for these characters start early (sometimes before the party officially begins), so prioritize your favorites and get in line early, or wait til the end of the night when crowds clear out. We had great luck with fewer lines during the parades and shows.

Exclusive Food and Drinks
If you’re a foodie like us, MNSSHP will not disappoint. Disney rolls out a seasonal menu of spooky treats and themed snacks. Some highlights from this year include:

Themed PhotoPass & Magic Shots
One of my favorite ways to capture the night? The Halloween-themed PhotoPass and Magic Shots! During the party, Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the park offering exclusive overlays and spooky effects you won’t get during the day. Some of my favorites included:
- Holding a glowing Jack-o’-Lantern that magically appears in your hands
- Sitting next to the Hitchhiking Ghosts in front of Haunted Mansion
- Floating with ghosts or holding a haunted balloon near Cinderella Castle
- Special spooky borders and frames that scream Halloween
Here’s how it works: If you’ve purchased Memory Maker (Disney’s all-inclusive photo package), all your photos from the party—including Magic Shots and ride photos—are included at no extra cost. Just scan your MagicBand, PhotoPass card, or ticket when the photographer takes your picture.
If you don’t have Memory Maker, you can still view the photos on the My Disney Experience app and purchase them individually. But honestly, if you’re planning to take lots of pictures or do multiple character meet and greets, Memory Maker is absolutely worth it—especially for big events like this one.
