The Lao Foundation Friday Night Street Market is St Pete’s best-hidden gem, and we are obsessed!  Every Friday night from 5 PM to 11 PM, they host an Asian street food festival at the Loa Arts Cultural Foundation at 4090 58th Ave North in St Petersburg, FL.  This is a family-friendly and free-to-attend event every Friday Night right in the heart of the community!

Every Friday night, dozens of vendors set up and serve the most exciting and delicious Asian foods, and the portions are enormous.  This Street Food Market showcases the best of Lao, Vietnamese, Thai, Philippines, and Cambodian cuisines – plus many others. Cash is king, but many vendors accept Venmo, Zelle, or credit cards. $15- $20 per person will earn you a feast of food, and we often stop by to try a new thing or two, then carry out a larger meal to take home for dinner.

What to expect at the Market

The variety of foods offered is almost overwhelming; on any given Friday, you can find – desserts, noodle dishes, rice dishes, curries, egg rolls, spring rolls, bao buns, ramen, sugar cane juice, boba tea, mochi, pot stickers, tofu dishes, skewers, sausage, pork belly, sticky rice, squid, taiyaki, dumplings, krab Rangoon, pho and honestly the list goes on and on.

We have gone to the festival a few times now, and we suggest getting there early to park.  They do have attendants outside directing you for parking, but if you arrive past 6, you will need to be patient – there are always people coming and going, but you may have to wait as this event is in a neighborhood in Lealman. The incredible vendors consume much of the Cultural Center parking areas, so besides a smaller parking lot across the street – it’s mainly street parking.  Remember – don’t block people’s driveways or park on sidewalks!

They always have music, live performances, and plenty of seating, and the vendors have been a little different each time besides a few anchor booths that always seem to be there. They also have dancing, movies on a screen outback, and even a toy drive during the holidays.  Follow them on Facebook to keep up with all the new Friday night events.

We have been so impressed by the variety of the vendors, the quality of the foods, and the friendly atmosphere surrounding this Friday Night Street Food Market.  Mark and I love Asian food of all kinds but have sometimes been intimidated to try new things at restaurants in the area.  This market has allowed us to try fresh foods and speak to the Asian community in new, laid-back, and simple ways.  It’s been wonderful to see so many cultures represented in one place, and we can’t wait to continue supporting this piece of foodie paradise in St. Pete!

  1. I would really like to go there. Unfortunately I’m not sure when I’m planning my next vacation
