Our 2025 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Experience

If you’ve been following along here on Sunshine and Sand Dollars, you know that we absolutely love Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World. We attended for the first time in August 2024 and had such a blast that we immediately bought tickets to return again in September. Unfortunately, back-to-back hurricanes Helene and Milton swept through our area that same weekend, and we weren’t able to make it.

Thankfully, Disney made things right. With an after-hours event like this, tickets are nonrefundable, but instead of losing the money, Disney applied the full ticket cost as a credit to our account. Even better—we were able to use that credit toward our 2025 tickets, and since we chose a slightly less expensive party date this year, we actually received a small refund. That’s some Disney magic in action!

This year, I want to share more about what it was like to return—this time with some unpredictable Florida weather thrown into the mix.

Weather Delays and Changes

Florida in August – November always comes with the chance of storms, and this year was no exception. The night of our party, the 8:15 parade was delayed until after 9:00 PM because of rain and lightning, and the Headless Horseman wasn’t able to ride. Since we’d already seen both parades last year, we decided not to wait it out and instead shifted our focus.

It can be disappointing when the weather changes an event you’ve been looking forward to, but we came prepared with ponchos and umbrellas and just kept a positive attitude. By the end of the night, a lot of the characters and photo ops came back out, and we were still able to experience so much of what makes this party special.

Our 2025 Party Priorities

Since we had already done parades, rides, and tons of PhotoPass pictures last year, this time we mixed things up and focused on:

Halloween Food & Snacks – This was a big highlight! But here’s a tip: not all food and snack locations stay open until the end of the party. Some close as early as 9 or 10 PM, so make sure you prioritize the ones you really want to try. Use the party guide map you’re given at check-in to plan your snack strategy.

Our favorite snacks were the Madame Leotta Cake pop and the Jack pop!! We tried several other items, but it was extremely challenging to take photos and videos in a monsoon rainstorm. Check out the full menu here: MNSSHP MENU GUIDE

Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks (10 PM) – This show never disappoints! Even after a rainy evening, the fireworks lit up the sky with projections, pyrotechnics, and Jack Skellington himself hosting the fun.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular (Midnight) – The Sanderson Sisters are back again this year, and this show is a must-see. We loved closing out the night with this high-energy performance filled with villains, music, and Halloween mischief.

Haunted Mansion Ride – Of course, we couldn’t leave without riding Haunted Mansion. During the party, the atmosphere around the attraction is extra spooky with fog, lighting effects, and ghostly cast members interacting with guests.

Trick-or-Treating – We hit almost every stop and left with bags overflowing with candy. Disney doesn’t skimp here—it’s name-brand treats, and they keep the stations well stocked all night long.

Magic Shots & PhotoPass Fun

One of the best parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the special PhotoPass and Magic Shot opportunities. While the storms kept many photographers and characters under cover for most of the night, we were still able to catch a few of the unique Halloween Magic Shots once the rain slowed down.

Ignore Mark’s soaking wet shorts! LOL, he carried both of our umbrellas – but one shot even looks like a hidden Mickey, haha!!

These exclusive photos often feature spooky additions, such as the Headless Horseman, Hitchhiking Ghosts, or Mickey pumpkins, that you won’t find during regular park hours. If photos are a big priority for you, make sure to keep an eye out for PhotoPass photographers throughout the park—especially on Main Street, near Haunted Mansion, and by Cinderella Castle. They’re worth pausing for, and they add such a fun, one-of-a-kind memory to your party experience.

Merchandise & Extras

One of the fun parts of MNSSHP is browsing all of the exclusive Halloween and event-specific merchandise. We made time to browse through all the Halloween offerings in Magic Kingdom, as well as the special party-only merchandise. If you’re planning to shop, I recommend doing it earlier in the evening, before sizes and items sell out.

Boo To You Parade

Even though we didn’t watch the parades this year, I still wanted to share my photos from last year, as what we saw of the parades this year was very similar. It’s a truly special parade, so enjoy it!

Even with heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, we still had an amazing time at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. The key was staying flexible, going in with backup plans, and keeping a positive attitude. Between the trick-or-treating, entertainment, fireworks, snacks, and merchandise, we still packed in so many experiences—and made great memories.

This continues to be one of our favorite after-hours events at Walt Disney World, and I honestly think it’s worth attending more than once because you can focus on different things each time. Whether it’s parades and rides one year or shows and snacks the next, there’s always something new to enjoy.

  1. The last time I went, there was a child in the group so I didn’t feel awkward. I’m so glad adult trick or treating is accepted there. When passing out candy on Halloween, I always offer some to the adults. Same thing with photo ops with the characters – there’s no shame in adults getting photos too! A favorite memory from a MNSSHP many years gone by is riding the Haunted Mansion at midnight. I really need to put a plan into place for 2026.
