Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

It’s time to wrap up our posts about the All-Star Value Resorts at Walt Disney World.  Recently we shared our experiences and a basic overview of All-Star Movies and All-Star Music, and now it’s time to wrap up this All-Star Trio with our stay at All-Star Sports

Since we are annual pass holders who visit the park a couple of times a month, we sometimes check the hotel rates to see if there are any Florida Resident or Annual Passholder discounts at the resorts. We often find All-Star rooms for close to $100/night, which is almost unheard of at Disney. And while the value resorts do not have all the amenities or luxury of other resorts, you can’t beat the convenience of staying at a resort with free Disney transportation, especially when you are there to drink around the world!

Mark and I stayed here for the first time only recently and were pleasantly surprised overall. We have always heard rumors that this resort is typically overrun with youth sports groups, cheerleading competitions, and many large groups attending events at ESPN Wide World of Sports. It can be overcrowded and loud. While that might be true during certain sports seasons, we stayed here in the heat of Summer, and overall, the resort was quiet.

A Winning Stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is a vibrant and energetic destination for sports enthusiasts, families, and couples looking to save on a hotel. As one of Walt Disney World’s value resorts, it offers a playful atmosphere, sports-themed decor, and convenient access to Disney parks’ magic. Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or just looking for an affordable place to stay, here’s everything you need to know about enjoying a stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort.

Location and Accessibility

In the Animal Kingdom Resort Area, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is part of the trio of All-Star Resorts, along with All-Star Music and All-Star Movies. The resort offers complimentary bus transportation to all four Disney theme parks, Disney Springs, and other Disney resort areas, ensuring seamless connectivity to your favorite attractions and activities.

This resort has been freshly updated, and all the rooms have been refurbished, which is really nice. They are the standard style of rooms in all-value resorts around Disney.

Shopping

Sport Goofy Gifts and Sundries is the resort’s gift shop, offering a selection of Disney merchandise, apparel, toys, and sports-themed souvenirs. It’s a great spot to pick up a memento of your stay or any essentials you might need.

Dining Options

The resort provides two on-site dining options to suit different tastes and schedules:

End Zone Food Court: This quick-service food court offers a variety of dining options, including American favorites, international dishes, and healthy choices. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has easy mobile order options. Everyday you’ll find something great to fuel your Disney adventures.

Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar: Located near the Surf’s Up! Pool: This bar serves refreshing beverages and light snacks, perfect for enjoying by the poolside.

The food court offers convenient grab-and-go items for those on the move and hearty meals for a sit-down experience. Plus – Salads, fresh fruit, and a variety of plant-based dishes are also available for those seeking healthier options. This is always super important for us during race weekends, and the variety offered here was good.

Recreation and Amenities

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is packed with recreational activities and amenities to enhance your stay:

Surfboard Bay Pool: The main pool area in the Surf’s Up! section features a beach theme and is a great place to cool off and relax.

Grand Slam Pool: This quieter pool area is shaped like a baseball diamond in the Home Run Hotel section.

Jogging Trail: Take a scenic run or walk along the 1-mile trail connecting the three All-Star Resorts.

Movies Under the Stars: Enjoy nightly outdoor Disney movie screenings, perfect for winding down after a day in the parks.

Playground: Little ones can burn off energy at the sports-themed playground.

Game Point Arcade: An arcade featuring various games for all ages, providing fun and entertainment beyond the parks.

Themed Sections

The resort is divided into five themed sections, each celebrating a different sport with larger-than-life decor:

Touchdown!: Football enthusiasts will love the giant helmets, goalposts, and fields that create an immersive gridiron experience.

Hoops Hotel: Basketball fans can dribble through this section, featuring massive basketballs, hoops, and courts.

Center Court: Tennis lovers can rally around giant rackets, balls, and a center court theme.

Home Run Hotel: Baseball aficionados will feel right at home with oversized bats, balls, and a diamond-shaped pool area.

Surf’s Up!: Dive into the world of surfing with enormous surfboards and beach-themed decor, and enjoy the main pool area that mimics a coastal paradise.

Room Accommodations

All-Star Sports Resort offers a variety of room types designed for comfort and convenience. Standard rooms feature:

-Two double beds – one is a Murphy bed
-Mini-fridge
-Complimentary Wi-Fi
-Flat-screen TV with Disney programming
-In-room safe
-Hairdryer
-Iron and ironing board
-Shower/tub combo with Shampoo, Conditioner, and my favorite sea salt body wash

In my opinion, these rooms are ideal for couples, or a couple with one or two very young kids. However, accommodating anything more than that would feel cramped. Connecting rooms are available upon request for larger groups, another great option for race weekends.

Tips for a Great Stay

Book Early: As a popular value resort, All-Star Sports can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons, holidays, and race weekends. Booking early ensures you get your preferred dates and room type.

All-Star resorts are a great option when you want to stay within the Disney bubble but save some money. They also have complimentary race day transportation, which we think runs faster than some of the larger and more expensive resorts.

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort combines the excitement of sports with the magic of Disney, offering a lively and budget-friendly option for your vacation. Its themed sections, comfortable accommodations, and various amenities provide a fun and memorable experience for guests of all ages.

Whether you’re a sports enthusiast or just looking for an affordable Disney stay, All-Star Sports Resort will surely be a hit. Overall, this resort is great for short visits and a place to lay your head at night, and I’m sure we will stay there again in the future.  Have you stayed there? What did you think?

  1. I haven’t there in a long time, but it was full of cheerleaders when I went and seemed more crowded than most hotels/resorts. Maybe that’s why it is my least favorite. Sounds like I should give it another chance.
