Sea Terrace Stateroom on Virgin Voyages
If you’re sailing on Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady, chances are you’re eyeing one of the line’s most popular staterooms: the Sea Terrace. This balcony cabin is a total game-changer — modern, mood-lit, and outfitted with signature touches that make it unlike any other cruise cabin at sea.
We stayed in a Sea View Terrace Stateroom mid-ship on Deck 11 and absolutely loved the location. Room 11082A was conveniently located and central to everything we needed on the ship!

Room Layout & Design
The Sea Terrace cabin layout is simple but smart. As soon as you walk in, you’ll notice:
- A full-size queen bed that converts to a sofa during the day (more on that below!)
- A compact desk/vanity area with charging ports and a large mirror
- A sleek bathroom with rain-style shower and plenty of storage
- A floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door that leads out to your private terrace
At 225 sq ft, it’s not enormous, but it’s designed to feel open and airy, with neutral wood tones, splashes of nautical navy, and just the right amount of Virgin red. There’s under-bed storage for luggage, and wall hooks for bags, jackets, or wet bathing suits.
Tip: Pack magnetic hooks for extra organization — the cabin walls are magnetic!

Bed & Bedding: Comfy, Customizable, Convertible
Here’s a cool twist: during the day, your bed can be converted into a L-shaped sofa to give the room more space to lounge. At night, it’s reconfigured into a full queen bed again, or into two beds to maximize the floor space.
Virgin uses plush European bedding, and the mattresses are surprisingly luxe. You also get your choice of soft or firm pillows, which you can request from your cabin attendant.
Traveling with a friend? You can request twin-style separate beds instead of the queen.

Bathroom & Toiletries
The bathroom is sleek and compact, with thoughtful design touches:
- Rainfall showerhead and wand combo
- Refillable, eco-conscious toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash)
- Strong water pressure and a real door (not a flimsy curtain!)
- Open shelving for toiletries and a makeup shelf by the mirror
While it’s not a spa-sized bathroom, it feels upscale and efficient — and the rain shower is a seriously nice touch.

The Balcony (aka Terrace) & Iconic Red Hammock
The terrace is hands-down the best part of this stateroom — it’s roomy, private, and comes with Virgin Voyages’ Instagram-famous red hammock from Yellow Leaf Hammocks. Handmade and ridiculously comfy, it’s perfect for reading, napping, or swinging while you sail past a sunset. I took a daily reading/nap break each day, and it was one of the highlights of the trip for me.
You’ll also find:
- Two chairs and a small table (great for morning coffee or evening wine)
- A glass railing so the ocean view stays uninterrupted
Tip: Use the Virgin Voyages app to order a drink or snack to enjoy on your terrace — it’s a vibe.

Tech & Smart Room Features
This is not an old-school cruise cabin. The Sea Terrace room is packed with smart features controlled by a tablet-style touchscreen, which lets you:
- Adjust mood lighting (try the “Zen” or “Hangover” settings)
- Control curtains with the tap of a button
- Change the temperature
- Stream TV shows, movies, and music
- Call for room service or request housekeeping
Lighting can shift through different colors, and you can even pair your phone to the room’s sound system via Bluetooth. Want to set the mood for a romantic sunset on the balcony? There’s a setting for that. Also, the room knows when you come and go and will close your curtains and adjust your lighting and A/C to maintain an eco-friendly experience, and reset everything the way you like it when you re-enter your room! It was incredible!

Room Service: ShipEats at Your Service
Virgin Voyages offers room service through their app — called ShipEats. Here’s what makes it different (and awesome):
- Most items are complimentary (you just pay a $7 delivery fee — waived if you order a chargeable item, like a drink)
- Options range from breakfast favorites to burgers, fresh fruit, salads, sandwiches, and desserts
- Delivered in sleek bento-style boxes so you can take it out to the hammock or enjoy on your bed
Tip: Pro move? Order breakfast to your room and eat it out on your terrace while the ship sails into port. Magical.
Other Room Amenities Worth Noting
Closet & Storage: Open shelving, a hanging bar, and deep drawers offer plenty of space. Store your suitcase under the bed to keep things open.
Still & sparkling water: Refreshed daily in glass carafes — no plastic bottles here.
There were plenty of plugs in the room: U.S. outlets, USB ports by the bed, and European plugs. However, they do not allow small power strips, even if you purchase the ones “approved” for a cruise, so leave them at home.
Safe: Large enough for a tablet or camera.
Daily housekeeping & turndown service: And you can even customize when they come using the app. Every single day, our room attendant made sure to bring us a fresh bucket of ice and two extra carafes of water, and we only ever asked for it once!
Final Thoughts: Is a Sea Terrace Worth It?
Absolutely. The Sea Terrace Stateroom is stylish, comfortable, and packed with tech that makes your stay feel modern and fun. The real game-changer is the terrace and hammock — having your own private oceanfront chill zone is something you’ll never want to cruise without again.
If you’re sailing on the Valiant Lady, this stateroom strikes the perfect balance of comfort, design, and oceanfront magic — without the over-the-top price tag of a suite. Let me know, and I can help you book it!

I want that hammock in my backyard!
They actually sell them on the ship in a gift shop! I wanted one too but don’t have a proper stand or tree to hang it from!
